January upturn a prelude to a better year despite all forecasts? The local view. For 'Hardy's' January has shown a promising start to the year. Traditionally and as long as I can remember Januauary start well but by the third week apathy sets in and the market slumbers until mid March. This year people appear to have come back with a dogged determination to make up for lost time. Writing now at the end of January/start of February we have experienced a raft of new instructions and a consistently high level of interest from prospective buyers. The message is simple- no matter how scientific one tries to be regarding the political and economic situation - people simply want to get on with life. After a long period of uncertainty and the prospect of it continuing we all know that we can't stop the march of time - seize the day!
